Somesuggestions to Fix A Clogged Garbage Disposal

There are few things as disconcerting as plumbing issues.  Things like a clogged garbage disposal or leaking drain can often be hard for someone to fixon their own.  These few tips can help all San Francisco residents chop down the issue and establish the best plumbing contractor to call for help.

The immediate thing San Francisco residents should do when they are experiencing a clogged garbage disposal is to check the unit itself.  Most disposal units have a reset button and a key slot to manually move the blades to unencumber obstructions in them.

Typically, the reset button is red and is found on the bottom of the unit.  Start by pressing it.  With some units it’dhard to establish whether or not the unit has been reset, but when the unit is turned on after it is reset it will either start running or it may hum a bit.  If it is humming, switch it off because there are a few things jammed in it.

If the unit is jammed then you’ll need either an inch Allen wrench or a garbage disposal key.  The bottom of the unit has a hole for the wrench in the center of it.  Place the wrench in the unit and turn it in both directions.  Ensure that you turn the wrench around a couple of times to ensure that whatever has blocked the blades from moving is cleared.  After that, press the reset button again and the unit should work.

These are typically the main issues with a clogged garbage disposal, but there are a few other reasons that the unit could start backing up in the sink.  If this does notsolve the problem then it may be best to discover a good plumber in San Francisco that knows the easiest way to fix every type of plumbing issues.
